Enjoy a coastal hike that takes you to one of the most scenic areas of the Otago Peninsula. Our guided hike starts with panorama coastal views before we descend down rolling sand dunes to Sandfly Bay Beach blessed with rare wildlife and intriguing history. This half day active tour is designed for people with limited time and visiting cruise ship passengers

Your intimate tour starts with a stunning scenic drive from Dunedin up to Sandymount area. The moderate walk to Sandymount taking us across farmland dominated by windswept trees and down to “The Chasm”, a basalt column shaped by the fierce waves that pound the coast. The lookout point at Lovers Leap inaugurates a view of a natural rock bridge’s crossing, a scenic phenomenon washed out by the sea thousands of years ago. It connects the cliffs of Lovers’ Leap with a spectacular hanging valley.

Breathe and smell the sea on the last part of our hike as we make our way down the largest sand dune on the Otago Peninsula. Refreshments will be ready in our private hut situated on a picturesque beach where rewarding encounters with NZ sea-lions, NZ fur seals, Yellow-Eyed penguins and other marine species can be experienced. As we walk along the sweeping bay and make our way home, you will be left with the sweet taste of Dunedin, a place with many secrets waiting to be found.

This tour operating from 1st November to 31st March includes

• 4 ½ hours guiding with experienced and well trained guide
• comfortable transport including pick up and drop off at accommodation or cruise ship
• light refreshments, lunch
• use of binoculars and wildlife books available on interest
